Bio-TENS is a practitioner-conducted electrotherapy from Korea. A low-frequency current enters through my foot on a conductive pad, travels through my body, and reaches you through my hands — so the contact follows the curve of your body, and the intensity is set by touch, not by a dial.

Three stages. The middle one is what no machine has.
A Korean Bio-TENS unit generates a low-frequency current — the same class of current used in TENS units in physical therapy. This equipment is not sold in the United States.
The current enters through my foot on a conductive pad. How much of the foot is on the pad sets the intensity — a continuous, moment-to-moment control that no machine with a dial can match.
Hands to skin. A hand follows a shoulder or a spine the way a stuck-on pad never will — which is why one session covers you, not one sore spot.
Same class of current. A different instrument.
| A TENS unit | Bio-TENS |
|---|---|
| Two fixed electrode pads | Two moving hands |
| One area at a time | The whole body, in one session |
| Intensity from a dial | Intensity from contact — tuned by the practitioner’s foot on the pad |
| The device is the whole instrument | The practitioner’s body is part of the circuit |

Fascia runs in one piece from your scalp to your soles. Treat one spot and the rest keeps pulling against it. This follows the tissue instead — which is why a session covers all of you.
Drawn from how the body responds during a session — deep muscle and fascia soften, circulation returns, and the nervous system settles.
Shiona trained in this therapy at Mi Chae Um (미채움), a practice founded in Korea by two PhDs, Yang Jian and Yang Su Kyung, on one principle: when every organ, muscle, tendon and ligament is in its right place and working, the body can do what it was built to do.
She continues training with her teachers in Korea. Conducting safely depends on the practitioner’s own built-up capacity, which comes only from working with the current regularly — the training is part of the instrument.
